Mexico and Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in research, technology, and innovation, focusing on artificial intelligence, energy transition, and health technologies.
Bilateral Agreement Led by Research and Government Institutions
The agreement was formalized by Mexico’s Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti), alongside Canada’s Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

- Health Technologies: Development of innovation in public health and medical research
The agreement also includes broader areas such as social, cultural, and economic development, with a focus on inclusive and sustainable growth.
Alignment with Canada–Mexico Strategic Framework
The MoU contributes to the implementation of the Canada–Mexico Action Plan 2025–2028, which defines bilateral cooperation across:
- Innovation and research

- Energy and infrastructure
- Sustainability and environmental policy
